Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the couple.

‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director

Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt ready to post publicly about his deep grief.

"Adequate time has elapsed that I can at last express my sorrow into words," shared Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."

The actor shared archival material from the film, remarking that he could not remember "any day without laughter".

"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes wrote.

He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."

Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade

In a different piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.

"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.

Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.

"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.

Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Sealed

This week, a Los Angeles court official ruled to prevent the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the LAPD.

A court order issued a restriction on the cases to limit the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" connected to the active case.

The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a public database listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".

Fallout and Commentary

Following the tragedy, public individuals expressed different reactions.

Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, offering provocative remarks that were met with immediate backlash by many public figures.

Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the those speaking out recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan described the statements as "disturbing" and implied they demonstrated a concerning lack of empathy.

Rogan concluded by suggesting that an associate ought to have acted when the impulse to comment on the passing was made.
