Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
